ALTER G anti-gravity treadmill
The latest addition to our physiotherapy clinic is the ALTER G anti-gravity treadmill, the only one of its kind in Ibiza. This machine will help you recover from injury in record time.
This anti-gravity treadmill uses NASA’s anti-gravity system. It takes the weight off your body so you can run even when injured. In other words, it’s like running in space.
INDIBA radiofrequency. Instant cell activation without pain or side effects.
It is a non-invasive treatment that consists of applying high-frequency electrical currents that produce heat in the area to be treated. This activates blood circulation, cell activation, increased tissue oxygenation and increased collagen and elastin production.
The treatment is painless and usually has a relaxing and pleasant effect on the patient after the session.
It is used to treat problems such as sprains, tears, neck pain, bruises, scars, etc. In sports physiotherapy, it speeds up recovery, which is why it is so popular among professional athletes.
Anti-gravity unit. Reduction of the effect of gravity for safe running or walking.
The gym has a room with anti-gravity treadmills, which have multiple applications: from improving leg mobility, strengthening muscles and endurance, to treating obesity.
Athletes looking to improve their physical condition by training without impact, and therefore without risk of injury, also use these treadmills to run without gravity.
Amadeo. The latest technology for hand rehabilitation.
Amadeo is a device that helps us recover hand and finger functionality, and its function is to restore hand and finger functionality. With this treatment, physiotherapists can work on opening and closing the palm, as well as on sensitivity, strength and fine motor coordination. It facilitates the re-education of finger movement, both generally and individually.
It is particularly useful in cases of central or peripheral nervous system injuries that have affected the mobility, strength or sensitivity of the hand and fingers, such as in cases of stroke, traumatic brain injury, neuropathies or traumatic injuries.
Tecar therapy. Highly effective for sports injuries.
Tecar therapy consists of applying electromagnetic energy to the body in order to produce biological and physiological reactions.
In physiotherapy, there are many indications for its use: sprains, sports injuries, accident injuries, lymphatic drainage, carpal tunnel syndrome, low back pain, sciatica, etc.
Athletes accelerate the supply of oxygen and blood to their muscles by applying it before sports practice, thus improving their performance.
After a competition, tecar therapy accelerates the athlete’s recovery time by stimulating the elimination of lactic acid. It also reduces convalescence time for injuries.
It is indicated in cases of tendinitis, bursitis, Achilles tendonitis, cruralgia, muscle overload, fibrillar tears, fluid mobilisation, post-surgical healing, acute and chronic sprains, etc.
From the first session, the patient notices improvement in the damaged area.
Prokin: a stabilometry platform for improving the proprioceptive system.
This team assesses patients’ balance and helps them correct errors, both in an orthopaedic or neurological setting and during the recovery phase from injuries.
Gyms and group classes.
Patients can attend different types of group and individual classes, such as back school, limb strengthening, or therapeutic exercise.
The pelvic floor physiotherapy centre (also on the first floor of the clinic) offers classes in hypopressive abdominal exercises, exercises for pregnant women, yoga, and more.
Diamagnetic pump
Diamagnetic therapy is a non-invasive therapeutic method that uses high-intensity magnetic fields to activate cellular mechanisms, reducing treatment times and improving patients’ quality of life.
Diamagnetic therapy acts on the internal and external roots of cells, stimulating the drainage and regeneration of tissues (skin, muscles, nerves, bones, etc.).
The diamagnetic pump is actually an accelerator of diamagnetic processes. If we consider that 60-80% of the body’s structures are liquid and that liquid is a diamagnetic material, we can understand its great capacity for action in tissues.
The pump works mainly in three areas:
Liquid displacement. This significantly reduces any oedema or inflammation.
Endogenous stimulation. That is, tissue regeneration (skin, bone, tendon, nerve, etc.).
Pain treatment.
Thanks to these three functions, it is very effective and can be applied to many pathologies. For example:
- Phlebology and lymphology (lymphatic, inflammatory, post-traumatic oedema, etc.).
- Back conditions (herniated discs, low back pain, etc.).
- Muscle injuries.
- Joint injuries (sprains, oedema, osteoarthritis, arthritis, etc.).
- Post-surgical rehabilitation.
- Pain therapy.
- Neurological injuries.
- Treatment of ulcers, scars, etc.
How does ALTER-G work?
As we have mentioned, ALTER G was developed by NASA to meet the need to restore muscle tone in astronauts returning from space, who are prone to muscle atrophy due to prolonged weightlessness.
Our anti-gravity treadmill uses a technology called DAP (differential air pressure). This allows up to 80% of body weight to be unloaded in 1% increments without changing your stride.
To give you an idea, a person weighing 75 kg would reduce their weight by 80% and would be running as if they weighed 15 kg. ALTER G can reach 19 km/h with an incline of up to 15%.
The ALTER G anti-gravity machine can be used by anyone weighing between 38 kg and 181 kg and between 120 cm and 205 cm tall. Users wear neoprene trousers, which seal the air chamber, calibrating the desired weight at any given moment during the session.
ALTER G controls weight precisely by adjusting it at the touch of a button. If you are a professional athlete or need rehabilitation after an injury or operation, the ALTER G anti-gravity treadmill is what you need.
What are the benefits of the ALTER G anti-gravity treadmill?
Injury rehabilitation
When you are injured, regaining strength and muscle tone can be a huge effort. The anti-gravity treadmill minimises impact, helping you recover more quickly. ALTER G can be used for a wide variety of rehabilitation purposes.
- Reduction of post-operative pain.
- Faster rehabilitation after surgery.
- Rehabilitation and training of patients with prostheses.
- Treatment of heel spurs.
- Meniscus tears.
- Calf muscle tears.
- Achilles tendinitis.
- Plantar fasciitis.
- Ankle sprains.
- Lower limb fractures.
- Surgery on any part of the lower limbs.
Support for athletes
ALTER G improves athletic performance while avoiding the risks associated with normal training. Professional runners benefit most from the anti-gravity treadmill, as it significantly reduces the impact of weight.
The weight can be adjusted from the machine itself, and many athletes already consider ALTER G an essential machine for their training and rehabilitation from sports injuries, due to the following benefits:
It strengthens the muscles surrounding the joints.
It minimises movement stress during physical training.
Injured athletes can stay in shape while recovering in a much shorter period of time.
Weight loss
Generally speaking, overweight people find it very difficult to run on a treadmill. On the ALTER G anti-gravity treadmill, the person will feel as though they are running while weighing much less, which makes training easier. Its main advantages are:
Greater metabolic control for people following a weight loss programme.
Improved cardiovascular health in patients who want to lose weight but are unable to exercise due to a medical condition.
Elderly people
Cardiovascular treadmills are used by older people to improve their mobility in daily activities and increase their independence. Other ways in which ALTER G helps older people include:
- Improving strength.
- Lower body rehabilitation.
- Neurological training.
- Fall prevention.
- Conditions such as diabetes, heart problems, etc.
- Arthritis problems.
